Founded in 1974, we are a non-profit association of public and private sector professionals with a common interest in serving the principles underlying the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) which include environmental assessment, analysis, public disclosure and reporting. CEQA Workshops The CEQA Advanced workshop is held every February/March around the state. It is designed to help consultants, regulators, applicants, and industry profes­sionals stay current on legal trend, and “hot topics” affecting the application of the State Law and Guidelines. Local Chapter Activities Local chapters offer a wide range of services and activities, typically consisting of a regular newsletter, membership meetings featuring top environmental professionals discussing current environmental topics, and a chance to network with local environmental professionals from diverse backgrounds and environmental fields. Legislative Activities AEP has a lobbyist and active Legislative Committee which closely tracks and responds to proposed CEQA legislation in order to influence the pending legislation in a positive and meaningful manner. Current summaries and analysis of the bills are published regularly in the Environmental Assessor and on AEP's website. Environmental Monitor The Environmental Monitor is a quarterly statewide magazine with information on top leaders in the profession, articles of interest, job opportunities and summaries of state and local chapter activities. The magazine is recognized throughout the environmental planning profession as an important source of information. Professional Award Program The Professional Award Program provides an excellent opportunity for professional recognition of outstanding achievements and document preparation. AEP offers an awards program, the results of which are presented at the State Conference. AEP is celebrating 45 fabulous years supporting the Environment! All the right reasons to be an AEP Member!
